    Plaquenil cause heart regur

The last couple of months I've noticed my heart rate has been quite high, like up to 120 bpm. My general practitioner told me that my heart rate's been high for a while, between 90 and 110 (I do need to ask her if this has always been the case or if it's happened just since being on Plaquenil).

Aug 18, 2009 Ginny, I had some very minor diarrhea, nausea, cramping for about a week when I started Plaquenil. Everyone is different, but for me, taking the med about 15 min. after eating, rather than before or with a meal, makes things much easier on my stomach, even for just Advil. Summary. Hydroxychloroquine Plaquenil is a drug that is classified as an anti-malarial drug. Plaquenil is prescribed for the treatment or prevention of malaria. It is also prescribed for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and the side effects of lupus such as hair loss, joint pain, and more. They all think there has to be some other factor; the question is just what could it possibly be? All my tests are normal, my heart is fine. But my heart rate does indeed, for whatever reason, go up when I take the plaquenil. So, my rheumy told me to go back on the plaquenil 220 mg, I took it and my heart rate went up to 110 bpm.

I've been to a bunch of doctors, and no one seems to think that Plaquenil is the culprit (even though I've seen that listed as a side effect in online descriptions), but I've yet to get a definitive answer. I've had a bunch of tests done: doctors say it's not a blood clot, it's not my thyroid.

Plaquenil Hydroxychloroquine belongs to a group of medications known as anti-inflammatories and antimalarials. It is used alone or in combination with other anti-arthritic medications to treat rheumatoid arthritis. It helps to reduce pain, stiffness, and swelling in joints. With Plaquenil, however, the most commonly prescribed anti-malarial, this sort of damage occurs only in 1 out of 5,000 people who take the drug for five years or more. For this reason though, it is important that you see an ophthalmologist for an exam before starting to take an anti-malarial medication for your lupus.
