Can you break plaquenil in half

So far I have no more energy than when I first started and has developed neuropathy which I have just found out from Web MD that this neuropathy is one of the side effects of this med! Saying that by stopping this it would take another 6 months to build up the benefit. There are other meds that can help with what you are experiencing, and if your doctor didn't address that then I would seek out a second opinion... Please don't stop your plaquenil until you are sure it is the right thing to do and in your best interest.

Oct 14, 2015. It’s not just an urban legend—you really can break your penis. But since there aren’t any actual bones in your boner, it’s not quite the same injury as, say, fracturing your arm. The condition is known as a penile fracture, and it occurs when your erect penis sustains some kind of force. Sometimes what is suggested no antacid for 4 hours is not necessarily required if it means you can't or don't want to take your plaquenil anymore. The worry is. the antacid will affect the absorption of the plaquenil and the amount your body can absorb. SIDE EFFECTS. The following adverse reactions have been identified during post-approval use of PLAQUENIL or other 4-aminoqunoline compounds. Because these reactions are reported voluntarily from a population of uncertain size, it is not always possible to reliably estimate their frequency or establish a causal relationship to drug exposure.

Plaquenil is a 6-weeker as far as the benefits are concerned, but it would be more dangerous to stop if you spend a lot of time outside and if this were the summer. Or maybe another doctor if you're not comfortable w/your current one.

  3. So, it's possible that the plaquenil is helping, in that your immune system is calming down and moving back toward normal. As to whether it is reallying working for you - it's kinda hard to tell; if you stop taking it and you notice a difference, it's probably been helping.

If you are taking hydroxychloroquine for symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, your symptoms should improve within 6 months. If your rheumatoid arthritis symptoms do not improve, or if they worsen, stop taking the drug and call your doctor. Once you and your doctor are sure the drug works for you. So I did get back on the Plaquenil and got the hair and inflammation lined back out and then I tapered the plaquenil down to 200mg when I was originally on 400. So like Kylie said, give it more time if you can. And yes the symptoms do lessen after your body adjusts. And the B supplements are an excellent idea. Pills should only be split in half, not into smaller portions, such as thirds or quarters. The easiest pills to split are relatively flat round ones with a scored center, a slightly indented line that runs across the center of the pill. However, not every pill that has a scored center is meant to be split.

Anita- It is hard to say whether I noticed a difference when I first went on plaquenil, because I was also on 10mg of prednisone at that time, and I didn't start weaning down from that until I had been on plaquenil for a few months.
